The major limitation is that the review was limited to the databases that were searched, which may not have covered all literature. Only literature in English was reviewed, and studies in other languages were excluded. The sample size of the studies was small. The majority of the reviewed studies used a pre- and post-test design, which is a limitation since this design does not allow any claims regarding causality. The majority of the reviewed studies were focused on primary and secondary school students. Future research can carry out studies that can investigate the applicability of the strategies and self-efficacy in university students. It is also recommended that future research needs to consider the different subtypes of dyslexia and the different age groups.
